Garzelli congratulated on his win by his Acqua e Sapone Teammate
Erasing his two second deficit to the leader Michele Scarponi (Androni Giocattoli) the riders in fact finished tied on time although stage placings gave the overall victory to Garzelli for his first career Tirreno-Adriatico victory. The winner of the mountains classification at the 2009 Giro he also reversed last years result which saw Scarponi win by 25 seconds.
Australia's Cadel Evans (BMC Racing) rounded out the GC podium in third place, 12 seconds behind Garzelli.
