SMP at the Tour De France

After Giro d’Italia, the SMP Saddles is present also on the biggest stage of the world cycling.

The characteristic saddle, made absolutely in Italy, has flown to Rotterdam in Holland, for the 97th Tour de France. It will travel together with the group until the Champs-Élysées of Paris, thanks to the Pro Tour Footon-Servetto-Fuji team .

The “golden” team guided by Joxean Fernández Matxin and Sabino Angoitia sees together the following nine “magnificent ones”, all of them beginners: Italian Eros Capecchi and Fabio Felline, Spanish Aitor Pérez Arrieta, Alberto Benítez, Arkaitz Durán, Iban Mayoz and Rafael Valls, Portuguese Manuel Cardoso and Austrian Markus Eibegger.

For each of them, it’s the dream that’s coming true. The aim of the Gold Generation is to win one stage at least. With the medium age of only 25 years and a half, it’s the youngest team of the UCI Pro Tour which takes part in the  Grande Boucle, with the youngest biker of all, the 20 years’ old Fabio Felline from Piedmont; he’s recently been the protagonist in France, where he won the Circuit de Lorraine, showing all his talent that way. Capecchi, Durán, Eibegger or Valls, they defend themselves well in ascents, the breakaway men are Mayoz, Benítez, Cardoso who had just showed to be among the best ones in the final sprints.

At the same time, the boys from the team of Mauro Gianetti will be engaged with the 62nd  Giro d’Austria, where the  Footon-Servetto-Fuji will be represented by the Austrian champion of the time trial, Matthias Brändle, by Italian Giampaolo Cheula who initially has been inclused in the team for the Tour, and then by  Vidal Celis, Martin Pedersen, Pedro Merino, Tom Faiers, David Gutiérrez Gutiérrez and Noé Gianetti as well.
