A triathlete since 2005, Tony was a competitive swimmer before that and since the age of 13 he has been waking up at 4.30am most mornings!
The switch to triathlon was not easy as it meant giving up his passion for rugby but with his competitive swimming background giving him the big advantage out of the water he realised it was the right move when, after developing his running and bike leg, he soon found success, winning three under 23 Elite National Titles.
With a 4th place at the Under 23 Elite World Champs in 2009 and crowned Oceania Under 23 champion he is now racing for a German Bundisliga team DSW12 in Darmstadt. Tony was recently named Triathlon New Zealands Male Performer of the Year.
